In this day and age, businesses are a lot savvier when it comes to digital marketing. They know what CPC/CPA & impressions mean, but most still have the old school mentality that more clicks = more conversions/sales.
Get more conversions with half the clicks
There is a way, a more cost-effective way to improve your conversions/sales – a way that could get more conversions/sales with only half the clicks, that way is through conversion rate optimisation.
To make it easy for everyone I have created two tables:
The tables show results, with the same conversion rates but different click volumes how many conversions you could expect.
As you can see for example, 2000 clicks with a 1% conversion rate is only 20 conversions… but 1000 clicks with a 3% conversion rate is 30 conversions!
When you think about how much it would cost to get an additional 1000 clicks per month through either PPC or SEO.. then realise you could get more sales without spending that and improve your conversion rate by a few % points, it all starts to make sense why increasing your clicks may not always be the best idea.
How do you improve your conversion rate?
There are many ways to improve your conversion rate, a few examples:
1. Using conversion data from Google Analytics or Adwords. E.g.What keywords convert best? Are they in your heading or on the page?
2. Improving Call-to-actions on site. E.g. Are your call-to-actions prominent? Is your phone number clickable on mobile?
3. A brand new website. E.g. Is your website mobile responsive? Does it accurately represent your business?
